Abigail Preston

General Board Member

Abby currently holds a Master's degree in Social Work from SUNY Brockport. The reason she wanted to become a social worker was to be a support and resource to even just one person in the world, and to let them know that they are not alone. She has been working at the Center for Youth since December 2023, starting as a Safe Harbour Advocate, working with youth ages 12 to 21 who are at risk of exploitation or are being exploited. She specialized in working with youth who were involved in the Juvenile Justice System, or were gang-affiliated/associated.

She is now the Street Outreach Program Coordinator at the Center for Youth and works with youth who are at risk of becoming unhoused or are unhoused. She prides herself on going into the community two nights a week to discuss with family members and youth the services offered to support youth at risk of exploitation.  Part of what she believes is so important in the world is raising awareness of issues occurring right around us. She believes that spreading awareness is the key to helping prevent trafficking and also identifying what trafficking looks like. She loves to make connections in the community and to know of any resources possible in order to be able to support youth and families in the community, especially those who are survivors or at risk of trafficking.
