Brittany Schulik - General Board Member

Brittany Schulik began her career at the young age of 16 when she knew she wanted to work with young adults and dug her heals into local Monroe County daycares and the public-school systems. Shortly into being a teacher in the Pittsford Central School District, she realized she wanted to change direction and work with at-risk populations where she could mentor and support their journeys toward success. In 2006, she transitioned to working with young people struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders at Villa of Hope’s LIFEHouse residential program. Brittany obtained her associate’s degree in substance use disorder from Genesee Community College and went on to SUNY Brockport to obtain her bachelor’s in public health, minoring in Social Work.

For the last 6 years, Brittany has worked with the Center for Youth, focusing on supporting youth and families through homelessness, substance use disorders, mental health, human trafficking, and more. Human trafficking took a special place in her heart in 2021 when more and more homeless young people seemed to have red flags that didn’t quite fit the bill of “only homeless”. Brittany was offered the position of Safe Harbour manager of Monroe County and jumped in with both feet to the ground and was ready to make a change. Brittany has since revamped the program in Monroe County, partnering with multiple task forces, coalitions, non-profits, and community members to enhance their education and awareness. Because of this, the program has grown immensely over the last 3 years, and referrals and support to the young people in need in Monroe County have increased by over 50%. Additionally, she has immense success in fundraising and event planning, which has also been a huge support to not only the program and clientele, but the overall Center for Youth during her time there.

Brittany, a mom of four beautiful daughters, is driven by her passion to spread awareness of human trafficking and support those in need. Brittany has a trauma-focused lens, utilizing a harm reduction model, speaking transparently, but age appropriately, to all and anybody who will listen.

Brittany has been a member of RRCAHT for only a short period of time, but has been engaged with them since the beginning. Brittany believes she can bring a lens of youth education to the Board, which may allow the opportunity to enhance prevention and education.
